One hurt, beer truck involved in Interstate 78 accident, police say

One driver was taken to the hospital following a crash involving three tractor-trailers late Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 78 West in Warren County, according to New Jersey State Police.

One of the trucks was loaded with beer, said state police at Perryville. A flat-bed truck appeared to come to a stop facing east on the westbound highway.

All three rigs ended up on the right shoulder following the crash about 4:45 p.m. at mile-marker 3.8 of I-78 West in Greenwich Township, just east of Exit 3, a trooper said.

The crash did not require any lane closures. Authorities remained at the scene past 6 p.m. for cleanup and to investigate the crash.

Police could not immediately say what caused the crash or confirm reports from the scene that one cab had impacted a tree along the highway.

The driver who reported being injured was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, Phillipsburg, with rib pain, the trooper said.
