I knew he was pompous...but come on...while a guest in another country? geesh...

RIGA, Latvia - President Bush is used to taking center stage, even when sharing the dais with other presidents in their own countries.

That made for some awkward moments at a news conference Saturday with Bush and the leaders of three Baltic republics. Host President Vaira Vike-Freiberga of Latvia invited her counterparts from Lithuania and Estonia to make opening statements, but forgot Bush before opening it up to reporters' questions.

Bush interjected, and she demurred to her high-profile visitor.

"I think maybe somebody from across the ocean should be given a chance to make a statement, as well," she said, drawing laughs from Bush and the reporters.

After Bush finished, Vike-Freiberga then explained that they would take four questions — one for each president. Again, Bush tried to interrupt, saying, "Or you can have all four questions to me," knowing that foreign reporters usually want to use the opportunity to probe the U.S. president.

Vike-Freiberga ignored the remark as she called on a Latvian journalist, and Bush threw his arms up and looked to help from aides offstage. The Latvian journalist said he would prefer to question the U.S. leader, and Bush responded, "Yeah, I thought that might be the case."

And as he predicted, all four questions were for him.

He probably wanted to ask GW about all the new jobs he's created

http://www.usatoday.com/money/economy/employment/2005-05-06-april_x.htm

The April jobs total far outstripped economists' expectations for 170,000 new jobs. Further underlining the surge, the government said 93,000 more jobs were created in February and March than it previously reported — 146,000 in March instead of 110,000 and a whopping 300,000 in February instead of 243,000.

What a great country we live in, Thanks GW :)

Canada has job growth as well BUT the majority is in tourism and hospitality sector (ie. fast food)
CAN'T raise a family and buy the great American dream on 5 bucks an hour!!

Mr Martin, Mr. Bush now create some REAL paying jobs!!! I hate when they give out numbers like that, it's so phoney!

Get two jobs then

Yeah that is a great solution...get two jobs...you really don't get it do you? :paranoid: Get two jobs to make up for the one good one you lost...or is non-existent..either that or move to China, India...

If you can't make it in America you'd never make it anywhere.

If you don't want to work more than one job, educate yourself in jobs that ARE available.

It's not my problem if you're a buggy whip maker  or liberal arts major :wtf:

I don't think I've ever had a 40 hour work week, Mostly, at least 60+!!!
That's what I chose because, I didn't go to college. Big deal!!!

There's jobs all over the place, if you're too lazy to work don't cry about it.

Nobody ever guaranteed that you'd have a cushy high paying job. Work for it, if that don't work, work more or change directions.

I know that's hard for you free lunch bunchers to grasp but, it's really quite simple.

Nope no one ever did..I worked my way through college and have had great jobs...

Too bad though, I wasn't born to a rich oil family in Connecticut--then I would not have to work for anything or for that matter earn anything I ever received.

Pompous; Like this you mean?

mcbrideThe only real thing that sucks about it is...we only have half of the population to engage in a logical critical discussion.
