As you may already know, when Con-Way Now went out, I was forced into semi-retirement. One of the reasons that I was staying at CWN so long was to get the benefits.

Then one day, Mike W asked me why didn't I go to the VA and see if I could get help, Which I might add, is available to all veterans, regardless of time served or location of service.

I get all of my medical care for a nominal charge, less than a bottle of Advil. I had applied for a disability, and have received one for diabetes and COPD. All service connected as I am a VietNam Vet.

So, a word to the wise, see your local VA rep or go the your local VFW and they will get you started.

I looked into that a few years ago when I couldn't afford to
pay my blue cross anymore and was flabberghasted to see
that they had closed enrollment to all but disabled vets or
one's that were bascially homeless, no income for 3 years
didn't seem to matter to them, what a crock, "yeah thanks
for your service but we have run out of money so you are
SOL fella..... " amazes me we can piss away billions in Iraq
but can't give old vets their due.....

Thanks Cheney/Bush and the rest of you pigs at the trough....

Walter, try again, I am not disabled, and they have opened it back up. If you need help, call me

Yeah I heard the rumor that they open and close enrollment
all the time, figures I must only apply when it's closed off.
Shouldn't be that complicated to get into, I mean why can't
you just be automatically enrolled when you get discharged.
Of course when I got discharged back in 1968 I never thought
I would ever need to use any of their services.
Your parachuting emoticons remind me of my days at
Ft. Campbell where I was shanghied into the 101st Airborne
due to my computer programming skills....
I was fortunate to have escaped to Bangkok, Thailand just
before they sent the whole 101st over to Viet nam, spent
my last year working in a place with no windows processing
interesting stuff and working on the bleeding edge of a thing
called "Autodin" kind of the forerunner to today's internet.
