This thread would be about any of the following and if I've left something out, feel free to add to the list.

1. Extra D.O.T. inspection per year

2. Drug tests

3. C-Link rental

4. Customer Rebates

5. Insurance

Landstar is paying for this so called random drug test for his contractors, I find that is the right way to do so, because they are sending and ordering you to the drug test. They even tell you , to which medical facility you have to go.
It would be right when FEDEX CC would pay this test as well.

The extra DOT inspection is paid by Landstar and other carriers . The DOT is satified with one yearly inspection , if the carrier wants another one so he should pay for. It is very easy to commend something, when you don't have to pay for it.

In my opinion the C-Link rental is far to high. Also the cost to install it and to remove it. But as long the little contractor has to pay , who cares.

Well it is sometimes nessasary to give a customer rebates, on the other hand we don't get any rebate on fuel and fight to survive, but cheap freight can put us out of business.. A company like FEDEX CC should open there terminales for all contractosr to get cheaper fuel and good and cheaper repairs.

The insurance is solely the contractors problem, but I don't understand that FEDEX CC makes it almost not possible to find your own insurance because of it's policy to put certain things in that contract . Most Insurance companies will not sign that.

This is a real sore spot for us. At first, back when either you qualified to be enrolled under the workman's comp or not it was something that wasn't required...then they changed the name to work accident, all the sudden everyone had to have it! .

The fact that this insurance is based on income is absurd. Should be a flat fee. Again, another insurance we can't shop for and compare prices.

Speaking of hidden costs, look at what is charged for the FDCC stickers and numbers they provide at a whopping $250. Anyone can go to a sign shop and only pay $40-$50 for the same signs and get racecar white that doesnt fall off at yer 1st truck wash, unlike the $250 cheap a** stickers FDCC passes onto the O/O....http://www.expediterworld.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10066/normal_PIC_0005.JPG
