We were in Birmingham, Alabama recently and I noticed a drip under the truck. It turned out to be the water pump leaking, darn!
I called every repair shop in the area and was lucky if I could get in late that night and maybe out the next day. Oh, and they wanted to charge for 3 to 5 hours labor plus the part. We are talking over $550 for a water pump.
Okay, I got upset and took matters into my own hands. I am mechaniclly inclined and attempted the repair myself. About two and a half and two gallons of antifreeze and I was done.
My point is these shops charge a flat rate for everything and if you have any mechanic skills at all and think you can do it and have plenty of time, do it! I saved over $425.00 and was able to go.
