Harry,
It has come to my attention many o/o that work for other expedite companies are paid anywhere from .50 to $1.50 per dead head mile. They also told me this is a fee passed down to the customer for the pick up for truck relocation. Does FedEx CC do this without our knowledge?
What happened to us being able to buy fuel from other FedEx terminals? Are we going to be able to do this?
What is it with FedEx CC taking 42% from everything? This is a gripe I have had since finding out about it AFTER orientation. This is not mentioned anytime during orientation and I think it is BS! There has to be a comprimise somewhere because we are the ones making money for them too.
Also, our refusal of loads because of dead head miles being counted against us is not right! If I have been sent to an express center and wait there and am offered a load with over 200 miles deadhead to go another 200 to 500 miles at $1.19 to $1.35 a mile for all miles and refuse it it counts against me. I think if we are offered anything over 200 miles deadhead from the center we are to be in and refuse it it should not count against us, even 150 miles deadhead should not count. If we have to deadhead any less and it is refused then yes, it should. We need comprimises!
The reason many drivers are leaving FedEx CC is because of the things many of us learn after being with them for a few months and many things not being covered in orientation. I know of at least 3 to 5 drivers jumping ship and going to other companies. Does this also mean that our frieght is going else where? I hope not.
Other companies post boards that drivers are able to pick and choose loads. What if FedEx did this? Just a suggestion. There have been many load offers we have gotten that have only an hour to minutes for pickup and am begged to take it and the favor returned is not right. This has happened more than once and I refuse to do it again unless the pay is good. Us drivers need a little more time to do a pick up sometimes.
Please mention these points and maybe we will see changes? I hope!
