Just can't help stirring the pot Ken?? Is your arm getting any longer from patting yourself on the back so many times??

It's funny how people will get on here and complain when things get a little slow. For them it's all doom and gloom. Instead of looking in the mirror first and seeing if maybe it's THEM. It really is sometimes about time and place.

Time, is it the first of the week, when some companies realize that something they need for business or something they forgot to ship last week hasn't gone out the way it should have?? Is it the end of the week, when someone realizes that something they need for Monday ISN'T where it needs to be??

Place, what was a HOT area for freight this time last year may NOT be such a great place THIS year. If a company hired a better planner, shipper, manager, there may not be a need for expedited freight there anymore. Is it the end of the month, or quarter??

There are a few factors that go into decideing WHERE to position ourselves for the next hot frieght. Even then. sometimes you're asked to DH many miles to get a load only your truck is qualified to carry. Maybe you are the only truck in the area that has a liftgate, or you have more straps or load bars than anyone else in the area. Maybe you have a hazmat endorsement and no one else nearby does. I can't tell you how many times recently we have seen expediter trucks with either NO securement, or 1 bar. :wacko:

With all things, this business is cyclical. Take a deep breath, remember this is why you need a reserve fund, and try to find a way to entertain yourself when you are sitting, without either spending a lot of money or worring about this as a slow time too much.

Call your freinds who are also in the business and find out where they have gotten good loads near you. Do a little of your own research. Stop waiting for your company to give you the best option for layover and start running YOUR business as a business. Your company wants a ship in every port. JUST IN CASE. That may not nessisarily be the best thing FOR YOU!!!

I personally like hearing people bitch and complain, makes me feel
like i'm not the only one out there in the same predictament.
Yes this is a crazy business with more ups and downs than a roller
coaster, alway's second guessing yourself about decisions made.
Right place at the right time is about the only thing that rings true
in this ever changing guessing game called expediting.
