Thanks for the section dedicated solely to repairs shops. good or bad.
It helps to know what we can expect before we go in for service. So here is my contribution.
The Petro in Dupont, PA. We needed to have our batteries replaced. Simple job, right? WRONG!
First we waited for a couple of hours to get them replaced by a "certified mechanic". After installation, our a/c fan wouldnt work and one of our sleeper lights wouldnt come on. They had previously worked so we attributed it to the batteries. We went back to the shop and my husband observed the "certified mechanic" redoing the wires that hook up to the batteries, he had them crossed.
We hadnt checked anything else, but later that night we noticed our refrigerator wasnt working. To make a long story short, the mechanic had burnt up our inverter and refrigerator by not knowing what he was doing.. It makes me wonder if he cant get a job as simple as replacing batteries right, what other damage has he got by with concerning other repairs.
We complained and the shop said that they would send the new repair bills to corporate office to see if warranty will cover it. But first we have to pay for the repairs to get it fixed. More money and down time without the assurance that Petro will pay.
So right now we will see what is going to happen and will report the outcome.
Thanks so much for the column, I feel better already
