Has anyone had any experiences with the Gulfcoast oil bypass filters? In talking to other drivers and listening on the radio I seem to hear good things about these filters. It cuts your oil change costs by about 70%. All you do is change the filter and refill the oil. One drivers said he ran about 500,000 miles on his truck and never did and oil change, just changed the bypass filter and added oil to fill up the crankcase. He said the oil was always clear. Anyone know anything good or bad about these filters?

I have heard of these, but would never use them myself. My thoughts are truck engine manufacturers don't make money off of oil changes, so if they could put a filter on the engine themselves that would make the oil last 500k miles, they would.
If I were to try these, I would very carefully use oil analysis to determine proper change intervals. But, oil anylysis alone is not the tell-all they make it out to be, and I would never try to go past the 20k mile mark between oil changes on a highway engine myself regardless of special filters or synthetic oil or anything else. People who are trying to go these high intervals are taking a big gamble. Either that or they will not be the person footing the bill for an overhaul in the event the experiment does not work.
Drive safely,
