Been stifling hot here in the Detroit area, yesterday was miserable and
today is even worse, kind of glad I'm sitting at home and not rotting in
some truck stop burning $3 a gallon fuel 24 hrs a day to keep from roasting
to death.
Been in hotter temps out west but this humidity is making it awfull.
Looked at the forecast for today, they've got to be kidding 109 by late
afternoon...........

After delivering a load to Modesto, CA. on 8-17 we ran down the road to Santa Nella, CA. to the T/A to catch up on some sleep and showers, we only had about $6 left on our Idleaire so we added $30 and kicked back and waited for a load offer (which didn't come until monday).

Anyway later that night after finding out the other half had ordered the movie channels I decided to check on the remaining time on my account that's when I found out that we were receiving free introductory Idleaire.

We ended up being there until Monday afternoon when we got an offer to MN. from San Jose, CA., at that time our Idleaire bill was only $4.29 which included taxes.

So thanks alot Idleaire! that was a $229.00 freebee!

The wife kept saying let's go check out a park and to drive to the other side of the freeway to a resturant and fruit stand but I just knew that if we left we'd end up having to pay for comfort, it was around 95 degrees out.

nice bargain on the idleair, haven't used that in ages what are
they charging per hour now a days?
Rather hot and humid down here in Dothan, Alabama been
staying at the local country club past two nights and looks like
another night too, not bad only $41.48 per night with tax has
a nice hot mineral spa, resturant and lounge and of course the
golf course.
Tried to get FedEx to pay more for a B load offer but someone
else took it so I guess unless I get another offer before noon
tomorrow i'll take the relocation to knoxville (still have <75 status).
Temps still in the 90's here with matching humidity.

Ya'll enjoy the heat while you can :) The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a cold wet winter this year. This book has been very close for the 40 years I've been using it for farming/gardening.

Farmers' Almanac Predicts Extra Frigid Winter This Year

LEWISTON, Maine — Americans shouldn't expect Mother Nature to help with their heating bills this winter because it's going to be nippy, according to the venerable Farmers' Almanac.

After one of the warmest winters on record, this coming winter will be much colder than normal from coast to coast, the almanac predicts.

"Shivery is not dead!" declared editor Peter Geiger as the latest edition of the 190-year-old publication hits the newsstands.

The almanac, which claims its forecasts are accurate 80 percent to 85 percent of the time, correctly predicted a "polar coaster" of dramatic swings for last winter, Geiger said. For example, New York City collected 40 inches of snow even though it was one of the warmest winters in the city's history.

This year, predicts the almanac's reclusive forecaster, Caleb Weatherbee, it will be frigid from the Gulf Coast all the way up the East Coast.

But it'll be especially nippy on the northern Plains — up to 20 degrees below seasonal norms in much of Montana, the Dakotas and part of Wyoming, he writes.

And, he says, it'll be especially snowy across the nation's midsection, much of the Pacific Northwest, the mountains of the Southwest and parts of eastern New England.

The Idleaire cost are I belive $2.18 regular rate and $1.85 for fleet rate per hour.

We told Idleaire we were with Landstar and they assumed it was with Ranger so they gave us the fleet rate so I kept my mouth shut, I don't know if Express America gets reduced rates or not.

A little tip....if you don't smoke and can't stand the smell that goes with it then get your self some freebreese and spray some in the exhaust part of the Idleaire module, a time or two of doing this will kill almost all of the smell.....they claim to change the filters in the overhead units once a week but who knows for sure!

that's pretty expensive, specially if you stay for any length of time, you
could get a cheap fleabag motel on a coupon for a little more plus get
all the showers you want plus a bathroom only feet away plus much better sleep than noisely truck stop.
Of course in some areas even the cheapest motels are too pricey,
driving team we used to split the cost with the owner, now a solo i'm
paying the whole thing, but can't avoid doing that in this southern heat,
burning $3 fuel costs mre than the motel.
