This is for all of you straight truck drivers out there. It has happened to me countless times in the almost 4 years that i have been in expediting, and i am sure it's happened to you as well.
It all starts at any truck stop in america, usually at the fuel island. There you are fueling your truck when you begin to notice the trucker in the 18 wheeler beside you is REALLY checking out your truck.
You pretend not to notice and he comes closer, looking at your truck even more. And then after several minutes of this, that's when you get THE QUESTION.
Hey,do y'all make any money in those little bitty trucks?

It happens more than I can count!
I tell them it's like any other trucking job, sometimes it's great and there's those times that come up a bit short!
That's when they always say that they've been thinking about getting into the expediting business.
oooops got a load offer........gotta go! :bye: :bye:

Yeah, well, I told a JB Hunt driver what we were making per mile, the other day, while waiting to get our trucks unloaded.
The dude looked at me, got a confused, and then kinda angry look on his face, and said something along the lines of " you mean to tell me that you are making the same amount of money, that I am, with my big gas guzzling semi??!!"
I told him, " Apparently" and I am not certain, but I think he was doing some serious re-evaluating of his committment to JB Hunt. It seems that they have some lease-purchase program, and as hard as he tried to explain it to me, it made absolutely no sense, and seemed like a blatant rip off for the drivers. Maybe I am wrong.

I had it happen 3 days ago on the fuel island same question and when we left he kept pop quizzing me on the radio and was suprised that I run approx. the same miles as he does can get in and out of places easier get better fuel mileage and make 1 1/2 times what he does with half the truck....
