Wow, last week we had as a team operation 711 loaded miles and this week 1085 loaded miles.
Not including tomorrow , friday . Maybe we get lucky tomorrow.???
The little runs paid pretty good, but nobody can hold a business or can make a living with this kind of runs. :wtf:

What's up with that, Harry...seems like there are more and more trucks on the road every day...I've seen a lot more expediters and hot-shots in the last couple of months, and it seems like every 3rd or 4th vehicle on the highway is a commercial hauler of some sort...

Well Sparky you are a pretty girl and I am an old ugly driver and you are more charming then I am , that's the reason you get all the nice loads.

Sparky,
We had a run from KY to Windsor, Canada not California.
Wished it was CA.

Yeah, that may or may not be......
One thing is certain....Molly more than makes up for any lack of charm, and she's also beautiful.... Maybe you could put her in charge of talking to the load managers and dispatchers.... :D

I'm suprised to hear that. The loads I've seen posted this week is double the normal amount. Fedx went from posting single loads to posting them in a manifest trying to keep up. Panther, GPSNET, and Tri-State all posted way above normal.

When I saw that Windsor,Ca reference It did get my attention but I did figure they meant Windsor,On. Windsor,Ca is only about 5 miles north of Santa Rosa and about 12 miles from my house.

From 5/15 - 5/27 we ran 3726 loaded miles. So we averaged 1863 miles each week. We are a team operation and the income is split 3 ways. The 2 drivers and the owner. The problem that we are having is that dispatch tries to pre-dispatch us on runs that don't pick up for 24-48 hours. If we had accepted each pre-dispatch our miles would've been cut in half because of all the waiting we would've done. I don't like to turn down runs but I just can't see locking your truck up for 2 days waiting to pick up a load that you deadhead 150 miles to pick it up and deliver only 400 miles away. You essentially wasted 3 days of your time and it costs more to live on the road then you are paid for the run.
I know a lot of conversation has come up about the Fedex CC and Fedex Freight deal and we actually delivered some Fedex Freight runs and it was actually a team run. I don't know if anyone else has seen this freight but it actually paid pretty well.

We have been dispatched twice in the last 2 weeks on fedex freight loads, and both of them were hazmat loads and both paying really well. One was a 31 mile shorty in ohio and the other was a trip from maine to st. johns, new brunswick.
The only thing is that both of these loads cancelled, and of couse...no dry run pay. :wtf: :wtf:  :wtf: :wtf:

This is one of the drawbacks with Fedex and a few others. Let me explain to you what happens in real life.
A load is posted going to Timbucktwo. They list paying price as 3.25 per loaded mile. The load posting comes via email at 2pm. Company A sees it and responds and is given the run to pu by 5pm. At 2:30 pm Fedex calls back and says the run has been canceled by the shipper. At 4:30 Fedex calls back and wants to know if the truck is still availabe? Can you pick by 5pm?
Here's what just happened. Fedex awarded you the run at 2pm. At 2:25 pm carrier B responded to the email and undercut you by .25 per mile. Fedex calls you and says the shipper just canceled. At 4:25 pm company B's truck mechanicals, or for some other reason can't make it. At 4:30pm Fedex calls company A back and tells them the load is suddenly back on and can you still make 5pm? Company A's response should be yes....but I have already committed to another run for 3.50 a mile. If you will match that I'll blow them off. They will match.
Remember...it's a dog eat dog world out there. You don't want to be wearing milkbone underwear! :p

You have to go home when they nice loads are coming in :vmad:
Well I had to go home and we had to refuse very nice runs( I already had tears in my eyes)
I went out of service to stop the load offers, to bad , but I had to go home to pay my drivers.
I hope we getting this kind of offers again when we are back in service.
The business seems to picking up, so lets' roll friends.

We just had a pretty good week, over 4000 miles in 6 days, and they
even sent us on a run to michigan, got in last night around 11:30pm,
got the oil and filters changed this morning, feel like taking a day off
but hate to go out of service when the fishing is good.
Had another injector go on our last trip but the dealer had us back
on the road in 4 hours, international dealer in fairibault, MN.
Only spent one night in a motel and that was in MA after delivering
on sunday morning, got a run out of there to indianapolis and after
delivering there got a little run to royal oak, MI.
Rates were good on all but our last one but still collected $5702 for 6 days

Well we needed something to make up for the awful april and tepid may,
now if fuel prices would just go back down at least .50 a gallon things would
be just peachy.
