WARNING: SCAM ALERT (Regions Bank)
Following this brief message is the actual text of an email I just received, apparently from the “Security Department” at “Regions Bank, Online Banking Department.”
I know this is a scam, I have no account at any Bank by that name, nor do I have any online account anywhere. I called Regions Bank after visiting their web site and told them of what I have received, they informed me it was a nationwide scam and they were having many calls from people who have done what was requested in the email and have lost savings account monies, because the scammers had accessed the unfortunately duped respondents’ debit card numbers. I do not know how it works when you click the link, it must take you to a spoof site, where the scammers ask you to verify your account information, and then it is “bye-bye money” would be my guess.
Anyway, if you receive one of these, the person I spoke with at Regions Bank asks that you forward the email to their security department, and delete the email. Now as I think about this, maybe even the person I spoke with was a spoofed person also. I think I will contact the Attorney General’s Office before I do any forwarding or deleting.
Be careful out there!
