You know guys I don't vent often but you know all these companies and I use that term loosely, are all screaming that they need trucks, I know why cause they don't pay *&!@! When you invest in a piece of equiptment you didn't do that to make a lawn ornament out of it, you wanted it to generate a modest income.Right?
Why in the world do these idiots think that we go out and invest our money (Life savings in some cases) in equiptment to haul freight and end up either living on the road for 25+ days a month to make any money or hauling their freight and end up just paying the fuel bill.
I do not have the common trait needed to be a dispatcher or recruiter, the common denominater/trait you ask, I'm not a habitual "LIAR"!!!
I have a good friend that fell for the over abundance of bull$#@# at Express1 if he is lucky he might be able to sell his truck, pay them off, and get a good spot in line at the soup kitchen. What is up with "CHEAP" freight? The rate for freight right now is no better than it was in 1980! the only exception to that is....EVERYTHING else has gone sky high! PLEASE don't misunderstand me, I love the trucking industry and I take pride in my job and my equiptment, I want my unit to be presentable when I pick-up and deliver along with myself, I REPRESENT THE COMPANY! But now days if you got some cobbled up piece of something that will pass a dot inspection your in business. The companies seem to not have any pride any more it's all turned to greed. I know 1 small tractor/trailer company that really takes pride in not only their equiptment but their DRIVERS! I must be living in the stoneage thinking that a company should do such a thing but what the heck, my dual chrome stacked,Aluminum tanked, Aluminum wheel, chicken light covered Peterbilt looks good in the yard surrounded by Orchids.......Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, if they won't pay money, my Peter will rust in peace..................

While I'm venting could someone PLEASE explain to me how these morons come up with their Fuel Sur Charge? They pay 100% (thats that B.S. they scream over and over) and we charge 17 cents per mile. Do these idiot think we are hauling freight in a f***ing Yugo?
Lets do the math:
Fuel: $2.90 per gallon
Fuel mileage: 6mpg (average)
2.90 divided by 6 = 48 cents per mile

Now granted I did go to school in Alabama but you can't piss down my back and make me believe it's rain'n. Y'all smoke that over and let me know where I'm wrong, cause apparently I'm not on the same page that everyone else is......

We are all on the same page. Cheap loads are a result of those load boards. Every company is bidding for that one load to get it and don't care about the price, because they don't have to pay the fuel.
The other reason is to many small companies are out there and every day you see a new one on the road.
My trucks are with FEDEX cc and we still are making some money, but I downsize my fleet.

That's just like listening to the CB radio, everybody's Bitch'n about the cost of fuel, as long as the BIG Companies (I.E. Schneider,JBHunt,Heartland,Etc.) keep getting fuel discounts cause they purchase sooooo much fuel and recieve 10-25% discounts from the major fuel company players then there is nothing the independant small business owner can do. I would be interested in knowing what the driver turnover rate was for Schnieder or JBHunt cause they pluckem right out of school, and when they quit they have to pay the company back for the payoff of their student loans...I'll bet the company pays pennies on the dollar compared to the students fee.....
